Christianity obviously does not prevent social violence. Europe, which is just as heavily Christian as the DRC, instigated two world wars during the last century. Still, it is disheartening that so much blood is being shed in a country that is supposedly Christian. It is also troubling that Christian leaders have often been specially targeted for killing because they have tried to stand above the fray. In the DRC, trying to be neutral is dangerous, and it is even more hazardous to attempt peacemaking.
